The chapter 2 of the history begins with Bruno and Boots walking to the headmaster’s office, because they received a note from headmaster Mr. Sturgeon. When they arrived to the office they got very nervous and then Mr. Sturgeon started to shout them and he said that he was almost sure that they had to do with the Malbonia’s flag, the mascot’s kidnap and the infamous record of jokes.
Mr. Sturgeon continued asking to them if they did any of those things and the boys sat stiff and silent, but Mr. Sturgeon kept asking, and then Bruno admitted all about the jokes, Mr. Sturgeon was very upset because they caused a lot of troubles and therefore they were punished.
Mr. Sturgeon thought that Bruno was a bad influence for Boots so he decided to separate them by taking them to different rooms and also they were forbidden to associate in any manner, this kind of punishment was very hard to deal with for Bruno and Boots because they were the best friends and they were very sad for the headmaster’s decision; the idea of separate Bruno and Boots was very sad, shocking and outrageous.
Nevertheless Bruno had an idea; he told to Boots that they could see each other at midnight near to the bushes behind the cannon in despite of the headmaster’s orders, then Bruno and Boots went to separate ways in order to go to they new rooms with their new roommates, Bruno went to the room number 201, and his roommate was Elmer Drimsdale, a skinny boy with a crew cut and thick glasses, Elmer was a strange fascination about insects and fish because he had many insects in the room also an ant farm with a queen, and he had an aquarium inside of the bathroom, and Boots knocked on door of the room number 109, in that room was a boy named George Wexford-Smyth III, he was a handsome fellow dressed in several hundred dollars' worth of suede and cashmere sports clothes with a very expensive haircut, he was very interested about the money and health.
Both Bruno and Boots were very uncomfortable with his new rooms and new roommates but maybe they could do something to fix the problems.
